I'm moving back to Arizona in a couple of months. Not because of the neighbors, but I won't miss them.
The Navigator, Victor Basta, looked familiar to me.
After a few seconds, I realized where I'd seen him.
He's coming to America... today!
That's right. Peter Graves shares a cockpit with his young clone in Airplane!
This weekend, Otis gave us a run for our money by escaping from our apartment TWICE when we weren't home.
(I start to tell the story to my dad, and he says, "how does a dog do that? Does he order a pizza and sneak through when thedelivery guy comes to the door?")
Friday morning Norman and I get home from grocery shopping and we open the door to our apartment building and Otis bounds out! We get upstairs and find he had pried open the screen window that looks onto our enclosed back porch (which has a stairwell, and leads to the back porches of the other two apartments, and the basement).
This freaked us out. Who knew he could do that! So the next day when we went to the movies we only left that window a crack open, thinking he can't fit through that... we get out of the movies to find voicemail from our downstairs neighbors. Apparently he did it again! pried the window wide open with his nose and head, and BROKE the screen this time.
He was having a jolly old time running up and down the stairs when our neighbor found him, scooped him up and put him back inside via the window, crawled in after him, locked the window behind him and left through the door (thanks neighbor!!).
Needless to say I spent this morning at home depot looking for window guards but they didn't have anything that was right. Does anyone have any suggestions? We can keep that one window closed just fine, but I worry about our windows in the front, where escaping out the window would mean instant death. It will get REALLY hot in our apartment with the windows closed. Ideas?
Damn dog.
i refuse to catch the bouquet but i will try on the bachelorette crown. i have, um, standards? or something. ann marie's bachelorette party was bowling plus karaoke aka allison's favorite things. what will we do for my bachelorette if i ever get married?
best part: erica and i sang "end of the road" and SHE LIKED IT. converting my friends to my love of karaoke is one of my main missions in life. mission accomplished!
more photos here.
i have been somewhat out of commission from livejournal these days mostly due to celebrating other people's love. last weekend, i traveled down to north carolina to see larry (of unrequited high school love fame, now a friend, obviously) get married. stories from the weekend:
-i had my worst experience flying out of laguardia yet. my flight was delayed then (along with all the other flights to north carolina friday night) canceled and then reinstated. who knew that was even possible? this all happened as my phone was dying leaving me to call lara, who i spent friday night with, and yell "flight 229! i'm getting on the plane! look it up!" argh.
-ryan, my ex-boyfriend and one of the groomsmen, did not show up at the wedding. i have somewhat obvious mixed feelings about that.
-the wedding reception involved games during which the bride and groom were blindfolded and had to pick their new spouse out of line-up by either touching their biceps or getting kissed on the cheek. i was scared.
-the reception ended at 8pm leading to the groom's family and friends buying a lot of beer from the gas station across the street and getting drunk in the hotel lobby. a game of flip cup occurred. one of the guests challenged her husband to a one-on-one game and vomited in her lap and in the plastic plant in the lobby as a result. this story is much funnier when i tell it in person.
-melissa and i drove from NC to virginia sunday afternoon via route 29. this route takes you through LOTS AND LOTS OF EMPTY LAND. they probably call it farms. we called it "where is civilization? we're hungry and need gas."
larry is married now! that is awesome.
2) Home. Renderer Ray, the cute but indecipherable Scot fixing up one of our fireplaces for installation of a non-clankyscary gas heater, has quickly & efficiently been and gone. The somewhat-less-quick-and-efficient heater people were called mid-last-week and, here in the middle of winter, announced they'd be right over to install our shiny new heater! ... um, Friday. Not last Friday, mind you. This coming Friday. With temps dipping into brr as we sit in an uninsulated home. Oh well; a few more days of carrying our li'l electric space heater room to room with us, and then it'll all be over. We grumble (well, I do, big time) now, but in the years to come as we cuddle in front of the roaring fake fireplace watching dvds, we'll look back on this and laugh and laugh and laugh.
Maybe.
3) Garden. The Aussie sun heats things up quickly, though, given the chance. Well, outside the dacha. Inside stays pretty cool. But yesterday was blueskied in the morning, long enough for the yard to warm up and me to get out and do some much-needed weeding and puttering and one-with-the-earth-one-with-the-earthnes
4) Cheap Sex. We went out to pooftersauna Kens Of Kensington last night for a tawdry romp. Action was for the most part depressingly slow-to-nonexistent, though I messed around with a very amply-endowed blokey sort named Mick for a while who seemed nice and worth maybe dragging to the dacha some future eve for some
5) Twoo Wuv.

jon and i are watching dinosaurs right now.
I was in the neighbourhood, checking things out and I cannot help but recognize that I have just passed the 2500 mark on this here livejournal friend list. Do you know that this more people than there were enrolled in my whole university? That's a fact.
It's pretty hard to actually know that many people, but I am lucky to get so many nice comments for the pictures I post here that I'd like to know some things! So I came up with an idea! Everyone knows I make comics with my younger self, we tend to disagree on some things but it works out in the end. They can be pretty telling as to what this lady is all about, plus, they are really a treat to make. What about you?
I'd like to invite anyone who is inclined to post their own conversation with a little self right here, and maybe we'll get to know each other a bit, and have some fun with it. I know some of you draw because I've totally seen you do it.
(Anyway if you ask me, these are the sorts of things that make livejournal so enjoyable, really)
edit- I just came back here and whoa
edit edit - damn you guys like your dinosaurs
today i still have no voice and also surprise my arms and legs are covered in hives!
